Vigna Cosentino

In the Cosentino vineyard we cultivate grapes the same way it has always been done in this area: bush-trained vines, planted in high density, hold up by stakes in Etnean chestnut wood, populate the lava stone terraces, some of them very small and steep.

Here it is possible to find many really old vines – some are up to 150 years old.

Biodiversity hasn’t changed since the times of our ancestors: between the vines many wild aromatic plants grow, like nepitella (calamint) or finocchietto (wild fennel), both of them indicators for a soil that is arid, yet at the same time rich in nutrients, soft and porous.
